Using HP Scan I can scan a document, but when I go to FileSave, the SAVE button remains grayed out no mater what I do. I'm connected wirelessly to my Mac Pro running Ver. The Version of HP Scan is 4.4.1(21) and I have downloaded and installed the latest HP drivers Ver. The printer has Version 151210 firmware.

How To

Document

When you want to save scanned images without editing them in an application, start EPSON Scan directly. After scanning images, the scanned images are automatically saved as files to the folder specified in the File Save Settings dialog box.

Open the File Save Settings dialog box.
Windows:
Click Start >EPSON Scan >EPSON Scan.
Mac OS 8.6 to 9.x:
Select EPSON Scan from the Apple menu.
Mac OS X:
Double-click the EPSON Scan icon in the Applications folder.
Note:
If the Show this dialog box before next scan check box is unchecked, the File Save Settings dialog box does not appear automatically. To open the dialog box, click the arrow to the right of the Scan button and then select File Save Settings.
Specify a location where the scanned images are saved. If you want to change the default location, click Browse (for Windows) or Choose (for Macintosh) and select the desired folder.
Specify a file name with an alphanumeric character string (prefix) and a 3-digit number (start number).
If you want to change the file name, type an alphanumeric character string in the Prefix box and select the start number. The file names are generated with the prefix and starting number specified here.
Note:
  • For Windows, the following characters cannot be used in the prefix.
    , /, :, ., *, ?, ', <, >, |
  • For Macintosh, you cannot use a colon (:) in the prefix.
  • The number must be 3 digits. When saving with the MS -DOS 8.3 format, make sure the prefix does not exceed 5 alphanumeric characters.
Select a file format. See the following table for file format descriptions. Depending on the selected file format, the Options button may be available to let you adjust settings for saving the image.

Format
(File Extension)

Explanation

BITMAP (*.BMP)

Standard image file format used in Windows. Most Windows applications can read and prepare images in this format.

PICT (*.PCT) Download the latest mac os.

Standard image file format for the Macintosh. Almost all of the software applications for the Macintosh support the PICT file format.

JPEG (*.JPG)

Compressed file format. The amount of compression can be adjusted; the JEPG format allows for high compression. However, the higher the compression is, the lower the image quality becomes. (Note that the original data cannot be restored.) In addition, image quality deteriorates every time the data is saved. The TIFF format is recommended in cases where modification, retouching, and the like are required.

TIFF (*.TIF)

File format created for exchanging data among many applications such as graphic and DTP applications. When scanning black & white images, you can specify the compression type.

Click OK.
EPSON Scan starts scanning.
The scanned image is automatically saved in the specified location.
